How did I get a virus on my other computer? - Bobbie - 02-27-2013 06:38 AM

Can I get a virus from using "Cafe World" or "Farmville" on Facebook? Can I get a virus from a store bought game? My husband swears that this is where our virus came from.

Probable from a store-bought program? No. Possible? Yes.

From a website? Probable.

Because You Probably have no virus Protection on it!!

- Gohaleg - 02-27-2013 06:48 AM

No. I really don't think that any of those things would have a virus. If that was so, you were not alone, right?

You (or your husband) downloaded something or clicked on a website and you did not have good enough protection.
No, you did not get it from Cafe World or Farmville.
No, you would not have gotten it from a store-bought game.

Likely places you can get viruses are from your email (by clicking on the attachments sent from spam), from spammers on Facebook (by clicking on the false links they send), from porn websites, and from programs you downloaded to the computer (particularly illegal movies or music).
Anytime you download anything to your computer you should always scan it for viruses before you open it. If you do not already have virus protection, then download Avast! It's free and safe.
Don't go to unknown websites, even if they're linked to by friends, especially if they have a tiny or otherwise odd-looking URL.

Cafe World and Farmville definitely don't give you viruses at all, I play them all the time and I've never gotten one from them. A store bought game won't either, they wouldn't sell the game if it had a virus on it... There's many ways you could have gotten the virus, from an email to downloading something, viruses are easy to get rid of(well, most of them are, just make sure you don't get a trojan or something like that) so don't bother wondering where it came from and just get rid of it.

Always scan d cd's u uuse in system for virus bfor u work on them. U need a viry=us service in ur system to do it. Even thru net access its possible. Yet again a reliable virus protectors(Norton,Kaspersky) wud protect ur system automatically by not lettin u access virus contained sites n run a prog tat has virus..

- slugbug - 02-27-2013 07:05 AM

Probably not. More than likely you downloaded an infected file.
