Cell phone Facebook college question.? - kyle - 02-28-2013 12:56 AM

In class people text and it is hard not to look while they are sitting in front of me. That or they are on Facebook on computers. I am in college so professors do not care about phones or computers. It is not like I can see word for word what they are doing or saying. Just happen to glance when it is in front of me

Is it legal to look at text messages or Facebook while they are using it? I

No laws against it. If it is so private, they should do it in a more private location.

However, this does not mean it is proper etiquette to be looking over their shoulders while they do this. It is considered very rude to do so.

If they are on a social network or texting in public there is no expectation of privacy. If you catch a murder talking about a killing on facebook you cannot be held civilly liable for turning them in. That would never happen, but just an example.
