So i heard a rather mean, id!otistic joke today. "If we had killed 6 others we'd have the whole week off". Now y'all know it's MLK day and lots of employers give the day off. I'm not black, but that sounded sooooo stupid. Forget he was black, i'm not arguing race. My main thing is that this man fought for civil rights for EVERYONE. Yes Everyone because by starting his movement, others followed: latino, asian, gays, handicapped etc. And the fact that some id!ot is so self-centered as to say such joke for his own benefit ("getting more days off") seems utterly ridiculous to me. OK SORRY. I'm trying to make this a facebook post, but i dont want to sound like i'm ranting or offend anyone. Can you give me some suggestions?

To be fair, you get christmas, thanksgiving, all those days off. All holidays get the days off, right?
Maybe something like "I think only one memorial day is wrong, and we should spend the whole week not working or going to school to honor the dead". But say it around memorial day. I'm sorry, I don't know when your guy's memorial day is =p

Wow, history lesson here. That movement was started long before he started it to be fair. You are right though on one thing. And don't forget to add women in there. History shows blacks and women have gone hand in hand in rights. Usually we get ours then theirs follows. We walked the same marches and everything. Look at those pictures. And you will see all kind of women walking in those marches.
