Can the PlayStation 3 get a virus from surfing the web? - Michael Diroff - 02-28-2013 04:24 AM Though the websites I visit on a daily basis(i.e Facebook, Amazon, YouTube) are about as safe as they can get, I'd like to know if the PS3 is currently susceptible to internet viruses. - Antwan - 02-28-2013 04:28 AM If the PS3 was susceptible to viruses, (which i'm sure it is to an extent), someone would have to code a virus specifically to affect the PS3's operating system. Which I personally have never heard of happening, and I doubt will happen. Most viruses are coded to affect Windows machines, computers, not gaming consoles. - john - 02-28-2013 04:36 AM I've heard of a few cases, but in the end they turned out to be just a pop up that somebody wasn't expecting. Nothing more than regular advertising. As said, there's very little chance of getting a virus on PS3 by surfing the web - even less of a chance than on a Mac. - GP G - 02-28-2013 04:38 AM It can get STD's if you visit porn sites too much. |
