It could be that there is too much flash content and that is making your computer run slower. Also, many tumblr pages are known to be very large. This will use up a lot of your computers RAM.
You can try to use another browser and see if that helps. If your anti-virus is expired you should look into that. It can cause many more problems later on. Nothing slows a computer down more than a virus.
