HELP! I opened a wma file and it opened up firefox and tried to install something? - Victor Blaze - 02-28-2013 09:08 AM

It tried to install a toolbar, I quickly aborted it/cancelled it before it had a chance to install, but I'm scared, I deleted the files and did a full virus scan/spyware scan and there's nothing...But then just recently when I opened firefox, there was a toolbar installed some MUSIC TOOLBAR and it said that I had 3 facebook notifications even though I wasn't even logged onto facebook nor did I have notifications....HELP what should I do? The toolbar is still on my firefox.

-Right click on the toolbar to see it's name or check your toolbar settings in the Settings/add-ons section of Firefox. Uncheck/remove the particular toolbar.

-Go to your programs in Control Panel and see if the toolbar is there, if it is, uninstall it.

-Go to the Firefox folder in the program files. Look in the plugins/add-ons (or search entire folder for the toolbar name), if found, delete it completely from your computer.

-Restart your browser.

Go to menu>add ons. Look for the name of the tool bar and click remove. Restart Firefox. Done.

In future UNCHECK the box that you get while installing software that asks you to install a toolbar.

Click on the orange Firefox bar in the upper left of the screen, mouse over options, all the toolbar names will appear, clear the music toolbar to uncheck it. Go to the Firefox help menu to see how to remove the music toolbar. Next, go to the website malwarebytes.org. and download the free version of malwarebytes. It's an excellent anti malware program that removes malware that anti virus programs don't remove. Good luck!
