I do not know how to see the messages I get on twitter. I see on my friends profile that they sent me a message but I am never actually notified.

Click on home and on the right side there should be an @yourusername; click on that. :] There you can see other people's @replies.

P.S it also helps if you're following them, than it appears on your dashboard (homepage).
