Is it legal if someone takes pictures of your animals and posts them on Facebook without your permission? - Sara - 02-28-2013 09:49 AM

A new employee at our veterinary hospital took pictures of a couple of our personal animals, also on the property, that she is responsible for taking care of, and posted them on Facebook without my permission. I have stopped her from doing this in the future, but is it legal for her to do this? I am uncomfortable with it and would like them taken down

It isn't illegal because animals don't have privacy rights like humans do. However, it might be against the vet hospital's employee conduct policy so she could get in trouble if found out.

Maybe you should tell her that she might get into trouble at work and possibly be endangering her job, and that removing them is probably a good idea to avoid trouble

It is legal to take pictures of animals and post them on internet.

It's perfectly legal.

You have no grounds to sue.

In some states, there are laws about using the likeness of a person in business, but these do not apply to animals.

Yup it's legal. There is no law written about animal privacy.

As long as she didn't post where they live and their personal phone numbers I don't see a case here.

Lol

nothing is illegal untill you get caught.

Telling her what she can and can't do on her own time isn't a prudent thing to do. I wouldn't do such.
