How does Facebook choose the order of friends that appear on someone else's friends list? An ex of the girl I like shows up near the top and also in the 8 pictures on the home page. Is it just random or is it possible they still interact a bit?

It's all random. Facebook doesn't have the time to go through everyone's files in order to find who you interact with the most and other things like that.
