What does it mean when someone subscribes to your public updates on Facebook? - Kk - 02-28-2013 11:03 AM

Some guy who used to be obsessed with me is "subscribed to my public updates", but we aren't even friends on Facebook?
What does it mean to "subscribe" anyways??
Does it mean that, anytime you update your status, or add a new photo, they get notifications of your activity??
I don't get it, someone explain please. Lol

Well if he is subscribed to you that means whenn you post an update like I am so tired from work. Then he will get that on his timeline.

Yes it will show up on their newsfeed as if they were your friend. However, this is only for your posts that are public. So if you have your privacy setting to friends only then you're safe and he can't see anything in his newsfeed. If you're really worried about it, you can always block him.

It means he has subscribed to your PUBLIC updates. So, if you change your overall privacy settings so that none of your posts are Public, or set the settings to be something other than Public for specific posts then he won't see those.

You know the box where you type a new post has a drop down in the lower right corner that lets you customize the audience for the post - Public, Friends, Custom, or one of the groups you make like co-workers, school friends, neighbors, etc.
