How to get rid of advertisements left as a result of trojan virus's? - dnags - 02-28-2013 01:53 PM
I had several trojan viruses on my computer and got rid of them. but after i removed them i still had random pop-ups having nothing to do with the websites i was on. and also when i type it sometimes doesnt type all of the letters. what should i do? PLEASE HELP ME!

These are remnants of spyware and adware that the trojans installed on your PC. A lot of Antivirus software will miss them.
Download SuperAntispyware
Link: http://downloads.superantispyware.com/downloads/SUPERAntiSpyware.exe
Update it and run a full scan. Should fix those nasty popups :-).

If your still getting popups then your system is still infected. Virus infections can be a pain while trying to remove them. you also may have a rootkit infection which may not be picked up by scans.

You have not told us which anti-virus program and/or which anti-spyware program you are running. Please add that information as some anti- programs are not as good as others.
My suggestions:
Free Firewall that is better than Windows own firewall - ZoneAlarm

Download the free version on this page:

Free anti-spyware - Spybot Search and Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/
Install this and it will scan every file (and the Registry) on your computer for spyware and crimeware. This can take over 20 minutes.
If it removes some spyware/crimeware, shut the computer down, restart, and run it again, because some spyware is very good at hiding behind other spyware. Keep running it until it reports no spyware.
Free anti-virus - AVG Free

Now install this and let it run just like Spybot was running, over and over until it reports no viruses present.
You will have to update Spybot and AVG every day because the virus and crimeware programmers are putting out new stuff every day.
It's a never-ending battle.
