How do i get my parents to let me get a facebook? - stellardude - 02-28-2013 06:25 PM

Ok heres the deal. Last year about his time i made a facebook of an old friend saying he was gay. This was not the right thing to do i know and i got busted and his parents called my parents and the whole thing was a mess. my parents made me delete my own facebook and i havent had one since. Now everytime i ask my parents they just say that facebook is trouble and has no good use. Can someone provide some advice to this?

The only way you are going to get facebook back is to talk to your parents. Discuss it calmly regardless of what they say. Yell and you have lost the rgument instantly.

Every parent wants to protect their child from bullies, fraud, computer viruses and worse; it's only natural. So try to see this from their point of view when you ask! You hurt someone else, so you have an even bigger mountain to climb.

You have to show them that you are more mature and grown up and that you can be trusted not to put yourself, the family's computers, them or anyone else at risk! Don't expect instant forgiveness. These things take time and most of all patience.

I have no idea how old you are, so I'm not going to recommend any video stuff that might help. However, you could do your own internet safety research to help build a case.

Please remember that a crime is a crime and what you did is misrepresentation and could have ended up with the police. What you say and do online can never be deleted as every byte of data is cached (backed up) many times. Employers and colleges routinely check google and social networking sites, so don't throw your future away and think before you post.

This will help with facebook privacy settings when you get your account back.
