I doubt there could be a comparison. I wasn't there but it seems the Beatles drew great crowds and too they were not on utube and computer so they were more hunted after,

One direction:
-much younger because girls are less shy about boys these days.
-the fan base grew quicker due to social media.
-less tamed fan base. The whole image of a celebrity is different. Fans will forget they are just people and will try and get to them no matter what.
The beatles:
-opposite of the above.
-none of the music was illegally downloaded.

Well I am personally a big fan of One Direction, but I was a huge fan of the Beatles way before. I'm 16, but I've been listening to the Beatles since I was an infant. I listen to a lot of stuff my parents grew up on.

One direction fans are peanuts compared to Beatles fans

Because they're under the impression that One Direction won't be forgotten in ten years. The Beatles may have begun like 1D with simple lyrics but they actually went on to make more interesting music like Eleanore Rigby. 1D will never do that and they'll soon be gone like Backstreet Boys and N Sync.
