I'm getting emails from Facebook on my gmail a/c saying someone wants to be my friend. The person does have my email adress as he is my cousin.

You need to provide MANY more details. How were you notified they wanted to be your friend? Did they just ask you in real life or did you get an email notification? Could you post the whole email? Maybe someone made an account and specified your email address.
