Deal Vault is locked on my google chrome extensions? - Cassidy - 02-28-2013 09:34 PM

My sister downloaded a Windows Movie Maker not form the Windows site so now there is a HORRIBLE extension called Deal Vault, it's pretty much stuck in my extensions. I went to the website to know how to delete it off my computer thinking it would solve the problems. I followed the Internet Explorer and Chrome directions on how to delete it. DIDN'T work. It is starting to get really annoying with the ads. I downloaded ad Block Plus because I thought it would get rid of the ads. NOPE. It shows this really annoying list of "Ads not by this site" alllll the way down the picture comment section of Facebook and also the homepage. Back to Deal Vault. Every time I go to see if its "enable" box isn't locked, it says "This extension is managed and cannot be removed or disabled." MANAGED BY WHAT!?!?!?! Okay. I want to be able to delete this extension form Google Chrome AND FAST. Please rely. Thank you so much Smile

Ok I think I have an answer for you... Recently I downloaded a crappy piece of software called NCH. Terrible software! Audacity is free and ten times better. Anyways.. After my download, I noticed that every time i scrolled over a link, ads by "Dead Vault" would pop up on my screen! How trashy and annoying! Like I would ever visit a link like that let alone purchase anything from software that was placed into a program download for the purposes of being sneaky! lol Ok so here's what you do.... "X" out of all your windows. Close all browsers and programs. Go to your "start menu", then "control panel" and search for "Deal Vault 215 Apps". Right click and uninstall. Make sure you uncheck "install basic seek" when the uninstall window pops up. What Deal Vault is trying to do here is pull another sneaky trick on you by installing some other kind of "cowardware" as I call it. Cowardware - Software that enters your computer simply because you didn't realize you had to uncheck something when installing software you wanted. Cowardware is annoying adware that nobody would want on their computer so companies have to trick you into downloading it. If removing "deal Vault" from your programs doesn't work or if "deal Vault" doesn't appear in your programs, I would unistall Google Chrome entirely and reinstall it. But that's just me... Good Luck

PS. If your sister happened to download NCH Movie Editor for windows, I recommend removing all NCH software by going to programs and removing anything and everything the says, "NCH" under the "publisher" column. NCH is famous for giving you free software for a couple hours and then constantly bothering you to pay for software that is in not worth it... lol so windows will continuously pop up begging for your business. Just remember... for every type of software you can think of, their is an excellent piece of software out there for free fifty free! Truth be told, the best software on the net is free and open source! sourceforge.net is probably the best website out there for free software.
