Is there a limit of contacts when forwarding an email? - kindMercenary882 - 03-01-2013 09:41 AM

There is a new virus going around called "Facebook Invitation" so I want to warn all of contacts about it. When I tried forwarding my email to all of my contacts, the message wouldn't send. Why not?

Yes, there are two limits. For each mail, you are allowed to send to a maximum of 100 addresses in total, including a limit on no more than 50 to one domain such as @yahoo.com. However, frequently even those fail to send. If you have your mail Options set to 'Save Sent Messages', you can re-open the sent mail and re-send it to others on your list ... if it is true! (You will use BCC for all those addresses and send the mail To: yourself, won't you?)
The second limit is a maximum of 200 addresses sent per hour, or your account will be locked from sending for 24 or 48 hours , or worse yet ... you get 'suspicious activity has been deleted on your account' warnings. NO more sending, or getting the scrambled letters 'captcha' image for all mail for a while.

By the way, before forwarding all such virus warnings, always check with a reputable source of Urban Legends, such as http://urbanlegends.about.com/ Both pages have several listing for fake virus warnings concerning Facebook, especially urban legends
