How is the Free Market possibly going to solve any of the Major Social Problems that we have in America? - longhaired freaky person - 10-12-2012 08:12 AM

Is the Free Market going to take of our aging population, educate our poor children, make immigrants feel like full members of our nation, ensure our planet is habitable for future generations, and ensure that basic human needs are provided for?

Based on past evidence, it's obvious that the answer to that question is No. We can have legitimate policy differences about how best to solve these problems, but we can't simply kick the can down the road with the excuse that "government is the problem".
OK, so how are we as a society going to do those things without the government?
Someone thinks government hasn't been solving problems for 200 years. Hmm. Thanks for nothing, Texas State School Board.

It's not, that isn't a problem for the free market. It is up to us as a society to do that, not the market, and not the government.

We live in a free society, we can do a lot of things without asking permission from the government. We can start with our own families, and then our neighborhood, and work outwards until we reach everyone.

Great question. No, it won't.

Nor will Republicans.

It worked for 200+ years until politicians started F-ing with it.

Get government out of the way and America will rise again!

after Obama policies bankrupt the free market congress can buy it and Obama can solve the problem just like he did with wall street and banks.

It can't and those in Washington who have duped a lot of pawns with this and other lies know that only too well. But they are lovers of money and are selling the soul of America for silver.

Who says the free market is supposed to solve major social problems? Nobody

FAIL

considering that all the issues that you listed are failing BECAUSE of government intervention, and not the free market, I'd think that you would have figured that out by now.

The Market is not supposed to solve social problems.

The reality of life is that people will never be equal. Governments around the world have tried to change that, only to learn the harsh lesson that if you mess with the "system" to make everyone equal, you invariably succeed in making everyone equally poor.
