which is a 1st amendment right, or is "assembly" necessary to be in person, to qualify?

They will be less protected by "assembly" and more by being interpreted as "press." In any case, within limits, they will be "speech" until the various laws banning content on websites are enacted...so far campaigns have held them off, but the efforts don't die.
