What is the best way to show are soldiers that there is not such thing as a "private message" on facebook? and that they should not use their real names on facebook? I have told them them until my face was blue that there is not such thing as a "private message" those of us with intelligence background know better. So many family members are telling so much personal information, enough for the wrong person to do damage. What does it takes for them to understand that all that you say on facebook or any "internet/cell phones" is public property? that this information is sold out to the highest bidder for comercial purposes as well as other money making schemes?

how can you educate all computer users that they should never put anything on a computer that they don't want someone else to see? this includes things that might seem meaningless by themselves, but when put with other meaningless pieces is of value to computer/internet criminals
how do you teach people never to give that kind of information to anyone. if someone emails or calls you for information claiming to be a family member or close friend do not give it to them. get off the computer or phone and call them at a number they gave you and make sure it really was them on the other end

Your comments apply to anybody who uses Facebook world wide, not just "soldiers and families"
As the Family members of most if not all soldiers are civilians, unless there is a clear breach of security, you cant force them to do anything.

It takes maybe a class with examples of how good people can do much harm
by posting things on the FB or any public site that shouldn't be talked about in person.
People think the internet is some private space and they don't get that everyone sees
everything.. I do realize you can post things just to your families that the public doesn't see
them but harddrives, lap tops, or even accounts are stolen it happens daily
and there goes all the privacy they thought they had!

maybe it should now be loose FB pages can get your buddies killed!

Tell them to make a fake identity and then download Tor and use a proxy and then they can do what they want on facebook without worrying about bad guys. lol
