Is this a good idea by the Sierra Club? - Ottawa Mike - 03-25-2013 07:23 PM

"For 120 years, we have remained committed to using every "lawful means" to achieve our objectives. Now, for the first time in our history, we are prepared to go further.": http://sierraclub.typepad.com/michaelbrune/2013/01/civil-disobedience.html

This means civil disobedience which is a first for the Sierra Club and their first goal is to stop the Keystone XL pipeline. Is this a good idea? Backfire or success?

The got an environment-hater to post their press release here. That is a great example how to publicize a movement.

I'm not a big fan of the Sierra Club, but they certainly understand how to generate publicity. Enlisting pawns in social media is how the best do it.

They have joined the ranks of Domestic Terrorists.

It seems they want to go to the level as the Terrorist Earth First , Uni-bomber and

Jim Hansen.

I think it's a good idea but I do really know if it will backfire be successful until after it's done. Civil disobedience has been used to make some important changes such as in civil rights and in independence for India. Many of those who advocated it and used it, such as Thoreau and Gandhi, are well known and well respected.

Here is a quote from Michael Brune in the article:"For civil disobedience to be justified, something must be so wrong that it compels the strongest defensible protest. Such a protest, if rendered thoughtfully and peacefully, is in fact a profound act of patriotism." I wish them well.

So they are going to walk? They think that is illegal. I have to wonder how many helpless insects they will crush. In fact these fat asses are probably going to drive from photo op to photo op and pretend to walk. These pretend environmentalists (actually they are nothing but simple-minded Marxists) may not like it, but we still have the freedom of speech in the USA and there is nothing illegal about marching to Washington, at least not yet. These people are as stupid as they are vile.

The Keystone Pipeline is a terrible thing that WILL encounter problems and will pollute. So anything that will stop it is the right thing to do

Even if they stop the pipeline, its not going to stop Canada from getting the oil to the Gulf refineries.

I keep waiting for someone to mis quote Barry Goldwater: "Extremism in defense of the environment is no vice, Moderation in defense of the Earth is no virtue".......then shortly thereafter we will have the Green Police.....something like the SS except with the recyling triangle on their armbands......
