I see groups on facebook that say 'click here to change your facebook colour' but when i do it normally comes up with something like 'this is a fishing scam please do not continue'. I'd like to change the colour but with something that won't cause havoc!

No. Facebook doesn't allow you to change the color of your profile- or any other customization, like myspace does. This helps all the pages run smoother and load faster, since it doesn't have to load graphics and anything else. It is all just one template.

I recommend you not to download any "special thing" to make your facebook look better because it could crash your pc or contain viruses
