I am writing a short essay on the following topic:
Purposeful social networking- Leveraging the power of social media to bolster your employability

There's a few different ways. Take Twitter, for example. If you have a lot of followers, there are advantages to it. If I say that I'm a subject matter expert in C++ that's one thing. If an employer looks at my twitter account and sees 20,000 followers including many technical discussions ... It reinforces that.

Similar to that is LinkedIn. If I'm going into sales and you see that I have 500+ connections, it's clear that I have a big Rolodex to bring to the job. That's a big advantage.
