That is because on this site, we really don't have that option. This isn't a discussion board. You can try clicking their avatar, and if both of you have email or IM enabled, you can contact them that way. But many folks don't allow that. You can add details to your question using the "edit" icon under it, provided you are using the FULL version of the site, not the mobile one. But the person who answered doesn't get notified of that addition; it will only help if somebody else comes along to answer the question and sees the new information. Or you can simply ask the question again, with full details this time, and hope that somebody will see it and give you a more complete answer.

You don't directly. YA is not a chat room or Facebook. YA is for Q&A, not conversation. You have two options:

1. E-mail or IM the user through their profile, if they allow communication.

2. Wait until you pick the BA and add comments for each user. Probably only the Best Answerer will see it since they only get a notification.

The ONLY exception is that you can add additional details to your question (little pencil icon on question toolbar) for clarification of the question. Do not call users by name doing this or it will be deemed chat.

You can't use this to converse with some one as you seem to want to.
You can add extra details, regarding the question, but the user who first answered you will probably not go back to see what you added.
You can use the Yahoo Answers email service but both you and the other user has to have them enabled.
