What is the best way to drive traffic to your site? - Chris Hughes - 04-25-2013 10:07 PM

Hi I have a news website and i am looking at ways to drive traffic to my site to read the latest news stories. I am not a member of google news so i am looking at alternatives to google news and other ways where i can get my latest stories in front of a wide audience straight away.

Can anyone please give me ideas on how to get my latest news stories in front of a larger audience to drive more traffic to our site

Hi, i would personally recommend writing an article about your website and the news stories that you follow and publish to ezines and article directories, easy to find just google. Article directories rank well with google so you will get lots of free traffic to your site.Hope this helps

Now that Google is including social search results in the SERP, you can promote your news articles by posting them to your social networking sites (Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn etc). That way, when someone searches for a topic you wrote about, there is a chance it will show up in the results. Publishing them on article distribution sites might also work, but some of these sites take a couple days for new entries to post, so your articles might be old news by then.

As others have been saying write articles about your product or service also blogging. If you have got some good news people would be interested in do a press release this will get you in front of your audience.

Best wishes.

Drew.

Nick and Tom have answers that are near perfect. I can only add this;

Create a facebook account, link it to a twitter account, and every time you publish an article you issue a tweet. Your challenge will be to build a twitter and facebook following, but as you do, twitter and facebook fans will see your news article (which should contain a tinyurl to your web-site) and follow the link you provided to read the interesting news you have published.

Even before you gain a large number of fans and followers, the twitter feed is quite heavily indexed by google, bing and yahoo.
