What's the best blog hosting site that is for free? - Jardene marie De leon - 04-26-2013 09:35 PM

I'm looking for a good hosting site for making a blog that is for free, organized, accessible, web-friendly, easy to customize and has many active users where sharing of comments, posts and advises are also active.

Blogger, Tumblr and Wordpress are the best ones I can think of.

Blogspot / Blogger if you want to rake in a bit of extra money through AdSense ads on the side......

AlltheSocialNet if you just want to get on with writing a blog, not bothered about making money on the side + want a Social Networking profile similar to MySpace / Facebook, etc.

Blogger and WordPress.com are the options for you.

Blogger is totally free where WordPress charges for additional features, if you want.

As you are looking for Blog hosting which takes little CPU/RAM resources, the best option for you is shared hosting which has several benefits:

1. Cheap: Shared hostings cost only $1.9 - $9.9/month generally while a server costs $100 or more.
2. Easy: Shared hosting servers are managed by the system administrator which saves the time and money for you to manage a server.
3. Unlimited: Shared hosting doesn't limit quota and bandwith generally but limit CPU/RAM usage.

So unless you have a high traffic blog which has visitors more than 2000/day, then a shared hosting can meet your requirements and save you a lot of money.

But if you do have a high traffic blog, you may have to use VPS server or Dedicated server which are more powerful than shared hosting.

If you have a high traffic website which has visitors more than 200/day, then you may face lots of website too busy problems with free hosting.

WordPress is the only free blog hosting site that is stable enough. It's very popular and has a huge support community. It also has a huge following.. and supports a lot of different applications.

As far as your domain name.. it would be a subdomain.. but you can also get a domain name and use the blog platform and host it with the web host of your choice (hope that makes sense).

For example.. create your blog site on WordPress.. then host it through a web host if you choose. If not.. you will still have your blog, but it will have a subdomain (if that matters to your).

WordPress is great for customization.. as I mentioned, they support a ton of apps and plugins.

Hope this helps!

I agree with Technik.. WordPress is an excellent free blog site.. you can do paid hosting or free hosting.. and you can also use your blog you create through them and host it elsewhere.. like I did. I host mine through SiteServing.. they have great WP support so you wouldn't have a problem transferring it over. They are also really cheap.. as in price.. not qualitySmile

Good luck mate!
