How does the 'relationship status' on facebook work? - ME! - 04-29-2013 12:34 AM
I've been with my boyfriend for a few months now, but because I've never been one to want to make my private life public, I've kept the 'relationship status' field blank on my facebook account. He on the other hand seems to want the whole world to know, and I guess that this is flattering in a way. I'd like to change my status to being in a relationship with him, but if I do this, is it like a friend request where he has to accept it? I don't want to have him automatically added without his agreement, and the fb help pages are no use :/
I know it sounds a bit of a stupid question, but I'm a very private person, so this is kind of a big deal for me lol.

he will have to accept it for him to show up as being in a relationship with

Yes, You have to send him request for relationship status If he accepts then it will be seen on your fb main page, You can go to settings and set to 'friends' option in order to keep it visible for people who are in your friend list. Otherwise set it as 'public' then it will be visible to whole world.
