If there is a reason for revolution, social media can definitely be used for communication and coordinating protests. I.e. if you have a bunch of people ready to go and protest, you can send messages like "let's all go protest at main square at 9pm". If everybody is happy with their life and does not want to protest anything, there will be no revolution regardless of social media.
