A career in social psychology? - Adrianna - 05-01-2013 09:18 PM

I'm 15, a sophomore in high school, and am very interested in psychology. I have always loved to figure out why people do certain things and act a certain way. I have done research to get a better understanding on peoples behaviors too. I tend to people watch and try to figure out what makes people tick. I was thinking about taking a career in social psychology but I'm not sure. I like figuring out how peoples pasts affect their current behavior and how media affects society. I am also very interested in criminal behavior too. Any advice on what kinda career path I should take? And can anyone tell me a little more about social psychology?

You can choose different career paths according to your interests. Social psychology focuses on human behavior in groups and society; the effect that the imagined or real presence of another person has on the behavior of another person and also things like how media affects human behavior. How one's past influences one's future is a more developmental view of psychology (child psychology). If you're interesed in criminal behavior you can choose to study forensic psychology (in my country at least, don't know whether the same degrees are available where you're from). Good luck!
