What is the best mac pro hard drive configuration for Final Cut with $700? - Ryan - 05-01-2013 10:57 PM I just got an internal SSD for boot up and to run applications (Final Cut most of the time) on my Mac Pro, and now I have two 1TB internal 3Gb/s hard drives, 3 open hard drive slots, and around $600-$700 to play around with to make my Mac scream. Some ideas I've thought about doing: -Buy a RAID Card($300 used) + another 1TB 7200RPM HDD($100) and put Raid 5 on them =>$600 - Buy an Intel 520 Series 480GB SSD ($500), put current projects on that, and use my other Hard drives for the older projects =>$480 - Buy two intel 520 series 240GB SSDs(2*$240), put raid 0 on them using disk utility, put current projects on one of the 1TB HDD that I already have and use it for the older projects, and trash the other HDD I have =>$480 - I can also return my SSD I just bought for other configuration options If you have a better config option, please feel free to tell me about it! Thank you -- Current configuration ------- 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor 4 x 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 ECC SDRAM (16GB RAM) 2 x 1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s hard drive ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB - Bob - 05-01-2013 11:00 PM Here is all the mac and apple help in one place...
