I just had this happen to me but I don't know what to make of it? I met someone a year ago at a work event, never saw them again, added me on facebook a year later, no mutual friends, suprised my name was memorable because it is not! Confused, is this weird or normal behaviour for the internet? This person hasnt spoke to me on fb yet.

Maybe they saw something that reminded u of them.

Since you met this person at a work related event, he/she may want to contact you regarding a mutual colleague or job opportunity. Give it a few days and if he/she doesn't answer, I would ask what made him/her add you as a friend on Facebook.

maybe they have an awesome job offer, or they want to network. its good to know other professionals in your field

I got a friend request the other day from someone I hadn't seen in thirty-odd years. Fortunately, I still have some memory left.
