I have a PHP site. I want to set it up so I can send a text message from my phone and have the message show on the site (like twitter.com.) How do I accomplish this? Do I need a special SMS service? Does anyone know of a service that will provide this?

You need to use a SMS gateway. You may setup your own, but its not very easy. A SMS gateway service charges based on different criteria, such as per-text, or you can buy bundle packages.
