ads, depending on how many people go to your site.
You could also give a premium version. Or you could sell stuff.

Ads. For any free website that doesn't offer a premium paid service, whatever money they make usually comes from ads.
Be warned though, many sites like Facebook and YouTube (especially YouTube) don't make any money because what they make from ads isn't enough to offset the cost of hosting all the content they host. Google is estimated to lose $470 million this year on YouTube. Facebook doesn't profit either. So if you're looking to make money, a social networking site or a site that will host lots of user-generated content isn't the way to go.
