Would you be interested in a story based around today's media? - Tyran - 05-03-2013 11:40 PM

So lately I've been thinking of some ideas for stories. I feel like I have a lot to say about today's world (or at least America). I've been writing short stories for a long time, but now I'm ready to expand. I feel I have developed a grasp on what to do and what not to do when writing (things like making sure pacing feels right with word structure, and to not sound pretentious with oversimplified words). I've studied the narratives of television shows like Mad Men and Breaking Bad to have a better understanding of storytelling, and I've also spent years observing human behavior.

Although I'm just not sure if anyone would be genuinely interested in this kind of story? And I wouldn't want it to be some easy parody of today's media and current events that people already use to their advantage. I'll also want to avoid being bias, and I'm guessing I'd want to have a main plot and focus other than the social commentary.

I guess that's all I have to say. So would anyone be interested in it? I'm also open to any and all suggestions.

I think I get what you're trying to say here. You want to write a book revolving around the media in a fictional way?

I have to say I think the media is a brainwashing conglomerate, I don't even let my kids watch TV in fear of commercials. I would LOVE to read a book like this. If you ever need any help or someone to critique you can email me from my profile.
