With the new year started, I checked out my postings on my Facebook page during the last year, and found that most of them were somehow removed. Is there any way to find them or is it impossible to find those removed?

The new Facebook system is a timeline. So go down the timeline and click the years you want to view. Or, it may say 'view older posts'. Just click that and they will load and show up. But stick with my first suggestion and see if it works. Just go to your wall and scroll down the timeline. You should be able to find some options to view different years.

How do I get around my timeline (ex: view past events)?
You can scroll through your timeline, or use the menu of dates on the right side of your timeline to jump from year to year. Just click a year to see what was going on in your life during that time.
