install twitter onto your phone.
if you have an iphone its in the app store, other wise you can download it from the internet

Go to: http://twitter.com/devices
Enter your mobile phone number and enter the text code that is sent to it into the appropriate box, or reply to the rext message as per the instructions. Then turn device updates on, and, optionally, set the timeframe during which you would like to receive device updates.
Once your mobile device is entered, you have to turn device updates on for each friend whose updates you would like sent to your phone.
