Am doing a paper on social media and i would like to know the other different types of social media out there, and if TV is one of them i know that TV is counted as a sort of media but not sure if its "social" media material.

Television is one of the most powerful methods of controlling our thoughts and values.
It is a shared experience and so people often discuss certain programs.
Many go online to chat with others who watch the same program . Some are in fan clubs. Some like them on their Facebook so they are defined in some ways by the programs they watch.
It is a little bit scary.

TV, radio, magazines, newspapers, internet, etc. That's how humans stay in contact and informed of what's going on in the world.

Technically, no. Social media is any form of communication that allows or facilitates social interaction. For example, Facebook allows for conversations to occur, blogging allows for comments to be posted, YouTube allows for reply videos. So, to answer your question, TV is a one-way non interactive communication tool, so no, it is not social media.
