ur webcam is used in programs like Skype, if ur looking for taking a picture of uself with it, then u can try to google some program that uses a webcam to take pictures

hi if you have windows live essentials open windows movie maker. or download one of the many free cam softwares out there

Depends what you want to do with it. As the other answerers said, there are a multitude of programs you can download to activate your webcam and do stuff with it. For ex. you want to chat or take pictures you could go on Rounds on Facebook (http://apps.facebook.com/chatrounds/conv/?publisherid=elena&campaignid=YA&bannerid=0 ).
