I have an Ipod touch,
I got a free app for free texting (Textplus)
And I got a free app for free calling (MagicJack)
And of course free social networking apps such as Hotmail, facebook, twiter, msn, Skype, ect..
All Free!

It depends on the model. The new Ipod touch (4in) and the one before it are capable of video chatting and texting over a wifi network. This wouldn't be the best for a phone because you cannot get cellular data or plans on it. However, you can get a free IPhone 4 on Apple's website. It will require you to make a new account (or switch phones) on either At&t, Verizon, or Sprint. It will also require oyu to put in personal information (Social Security Number, etc) This is a Safe website and can be trusted to put your information in. To know if websites are safe, instead of http://www.yahoo.com it would be https:/www.yahoo.com. That "s" at the end of http:// will tell you if it is a secure site safe from hackers. NEVER put personal information on any website that doesn't have "https://".
