he invited me to a chat and it said win £100 if you invite your friends.. or something i cant remember... what does this mean is he trying to scam me ??

It's not a scam, it's not a virus. It's just a chain letter. You know how on facebook you'd get messages like if you don't repost this you will die or something. It's something similar, they do not work. It is considered spam, yes.
