I just got an iPhone and I got a normal Facebook app for it. Apparently it keeps saying I am online even when I am just on my phone and it just gets my mom upset. Then I heard about the mobile app and I want to get it but Facebook asks for my number. Im wondering if i should trust them because I heard of stalking stories, and i don't want that to happen to me, though I want it so i wont be seen as online often. All I'm just asking is, is it safe to give my number to them even if its just for a mobile app? Sorry if this sounds dumb to you guys but I was just wondering. Thanks.

It is safe to give Facebook your number because they just use it to verify you and your phone. After adding your number to your account though, check your security settings to make sure your number is kept only to yourself, so no one but you can see it.
