I'm having trouble being myself? - SMD - 10-12-2012 02:17 PM

I don't get it. I consider myself goodlooking & sociable, I have plenty of friends, plenty of women in my life, a job, etc... But I always feel the need to impress people. My social media profile pics are me with my shirt off at model shoots, I drive a nice car, ride a nice motorcycle. I'm starting to think I got my car/motorcycle to show off. I love riding, but idk. I always feel the need to one-up my friends and subliminaly brag about my accomplishments, possesions, and skills. I find myself trolling on online forums, living a fantasy, talking lies, etc. It's really starting to consume me. It bothers me, I can't help it though... I need help/advice
I'm 20 if it matters
I wouldn't say I'm insecure... In fact I'm very confident, maybe overly confident sometimes. But you're right, maybe I'm just a showoff

well if you are feeling this way by yourself and no one else is making you feel this way then in a paradox like way you are being your self. You like to impress others and that's who you are.

God I have no idea how to help you but the way you put all of that made you sound like one of those arrogant dickheads who absolutely loves themselves! You don't actually need to boast, I'm 16 and even I know that you sound insecure, but that doesn't give you the right to be so big headed! Apologies if this is wrong!

you need to get a life, beside modeling, being on the computer all the time.. your just bored.

If it bothers you then stop doing it. Maybe you are just starting to grow up and be a real person. This kind of behaviour is pretty common and I think it is good that it bothers you as it shows you are starting to want something better than to be a show off.
