Every time i follow someone new they mention me like "Now following @MakaveliMickey" Like why do people do that? I appreciate it that they are doing it but im just wondering why they do so.

are you sure thats not just a notification you're getting on your phone? cause my phone sends me things like that when someone I'm following starts following me.

some of the people I follow will tweet something like "welcome new twitter follower @ " as way to say thanks for the follow you look like someone unlikely to spam me of any of my followers who follow you
