I really hope he hasn't. I heard it on "Twitter" but people are saying it's a hoax. Can somebody tell me what they've heard?

No he didn't. If he had it would be in the news.
There is always some death hoax about some Celebrity dying but unless you hear it in the news don't believe it.

I haven't heard anything like that. Twitter can be misleading and while it does keep me up to date with a lot of news, not all of it is true. The official Nickelback account hasn't tweeted anything about him passing away, which is one big indicator showing that it's a hoax. There also hasn't been any trends, and I'm sure that something like #RIPChad would be trending in next to no time.
