The last time I logged in to my facebook account was in January. I would like to log in but without people knowing that I logged in or have become active. I kept my chat turned off, so they can't know that way. Is there any other way they could know?

Not unless they starred you as a 'close friend'. You would not get an email notification if they did btw.
