I get notifications when people post pictues or links but they're delayed by a few days which is weird. It's so annoying and I turned off my close friends notifications but its two random people, plus I don't even have people in my close friends group.

Dont worry just go to profile then personal settings and just see email then just turn off the notify me by email and you will be fine!!! Hope I helped
