What's so evil about extending tax cuts to every social class? - Kalifas - 10-12-2012 07:00 PM

Are we forgetting that the tax cuts are not just for reach individuals, but for corporations as well?
I have a retirement account that is tied to the stock market. If the S&P 500 companies get a tax break extension, don't I get some of that benefit in dividends?

How about if Home Depot gets a tax break extension, wouldn't that make a difference in the amount of jobs that will be available during Christmas?
By the way, I'm middle class and my federal tax rate (after deductions and other tax breaks) is about 10%

Why should someone who worked his butt off on a small business be forced to be a 40% tax rate?
And if tax breaks don't work, why did JFK -the greatest Democrat ever- implemented them during his presidency?
Why are you calling me greedy? I'm middle class, and this is my retirement account I'm talking about.
Many union Democrats are in the same boat as me.

At this time it is the correct thing to do

- Mr. Pelican - 10-12-2012 07:08 PM

It's to make not taxing the extremely rich seem acceptable

Because Tax Cuts don't work

It's called "Class Envy".

The democrat party teaches us to hate the rich, and that means no tax cuts for the evil rich.

The democrat party teaches us tax "cuts do not work", and "how are we going to pay for those tax cuts".

Because tax cuts take away power and control from government.

Liberals love to punish achievment, and reward failure.

Since the bottom 50% of wage earners pay only 3% ot the total income tax burden it is very easy for them to vote to raise taxes on others.

Hey Quickblur: The top 1% do earn 24% of the income, and the top 1% also pay 38% of the total income tax burden.

If only the government got out of the way, surely the wealth would trickle down. Sure it hasn't worked so far, but maybe this time it will.

- quickblur - 10-12-2012 07:08 PM

I agree with you on most tax cuts. I think that lower taxes help the economy and we should especially lower taxes for companies so they can create more jobs.

The problem with this is that the top 1% of Americans take home 24% of the income. If we had a slightly higher tax on this, it could be used to create better schools or job programs that would help our economy. Instead it goes to buy billionaires another yacht, usually made in a foreign country.

My position is that we should cut business taxes as low as possible (maybe even eliminate them someday) but keep a higher tax on the rich to invest in our economy.

Intent of why we would give the rich more money when the INTENT is it is to be used to create jobs and not but more luxuries as they have done with it in the past

Pay your taxes, dead beat.

The wealthy don't deserve what they have been smart enough and ambitious enough to earn.

They only deserve 1/2 of it. Those who are neither smart nor ambitious have a right to the other 1/2 simply by gracing us with their presence.
