I get that Facebook knows, cause this girl I'm interested in is always at the top of my chat list...and I haven't put her there. Now I get notifications for things she's done when it has nothing to do with me. She's not on my close friends or acquaintances list. Just a friend.

Facebook has the worst security of any site of that sort on the net. I won't use it at all, if you care about privacy.

Read the terms and conditions, they have to mention everything they track there.
