You have two choices: to deactivate your account, or to delete your account. Deactivating your account puts it on hiatus in case you might want to activate it in the future, and deleting it gets rid of it entirely. You can find out how to do both here: https://www.facebook.com/help/359046244166395/

Go to account, scroll down to deactivate account

click on setting tab and write DELETE in help section and follow the instruction
