You can friend people. You can ask you friends if they have face or you can make them one. Facebook was made to meet new people not sit there awkwardly with only 1 friend. Meet new people! It will be fun!

if you send random people friends requests, there is a good chance you will get reported
but what you do is go to gaming sites like zynga, and post in the "add me" topics, and say that you are a daily player of game XYZ... people there are desperate too... but dont expect them to talk to you or like or comment on things you post, they just want help with their games
