Facebook messenger being weird? - unknown - 07-28-2013 02:41 AM

Hello all.

At the moment I'm getting very confused with Facebook messenger... in the "chat sidebar" it gives you the names of all your friends and if they are online... etc. Well it also shows you that mobile symbol next to their names and shows a figure (e.g- 1m, 17h, 2d... etc) which I assume means when they were last active.

My question is about that mobile symbol. Throughout the day I leave Facebook on next to me whilst I do revision. I have a friend (lets call him Bob) that never comes on Facebook. Sometimes, i'll refresh the Facebook page, and an 8m (could be any number) symbol will appear next to Bob's name, even though he hasn't appeared online to me. So, i'll refresh the page and it says that he was last active 1m ago, even though he wasn't online for me?

Why is this?

The Mobile symbol means they are using a phone (obviously), it stays like that for them, even when they are online. If he happened to sign in using a computer, then it would show he was online like it normally does.

It is actually a glitch in making the Facebook Messenger. Many of us have had that going. It could not necessarily just tell you when they were last online but it could also tell you when was the last activity they did on Facebook. Facebook Messenger does not always give the right information since everytime you log into Facebook it has to retrieve all your information from the server of billions of accounts and small glitches just happen. Facebook is working on a New Design that will come up for all Facebook Accounts soon and it will not give much attention to such unnecessary features right now. But I hope it will get back to it soon.

I had same problem, it was because my internet connection was not as fast as everyone else.
best thing to do, is to either refresh page every time you get on it or you can go to your: tools, internet options, or network options if on Chrome, change proxy setting from the hide advanced options. pick the General tab and scroll to Browsing history, then click were it says check for new version of page every time I load page. Make Sure That is the Box with the Check Mark, click apply or save to everything as you back out of that window and refresh or reload the pages. it will fix it.
You can also find Internet Properties in your control Panel or search for it.

He May Have Signed Off and Than Back onto Facebook Chat But May Not Be Actually on It
